Below are a few questions that you may first want to ask yourself.
The answer always varies depending on the type of water feature it is – Pond, Pondless Waterfall, Natural Stone Fountain or custom designed feature. The element that most affects how often you need refill your water feature is rate of evaporation.
- How big is the water feature?
- Is there a stream bed?
- How many waterfalls are there?
- What climate are you in?
- What time of year is it?
- Is your water feature on the north or south side of your house?
- Is it in shade or full sun all day?
- Do you have an AutoFill?
For design decisions it’s notable that the more waterfalls and the longer the stream bed, the more evaporation will occur.
After a few months, water feature owners begin to understand their feature and keeping it working it’s best.
